    Understanding EBO2 / EBOO

EBO2 (also known as EBOO or ozone dialysis) is Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation — a procedure that continuously circulates blood through an extracorporeal circuit where it is exposed to high-concentration medical ozone and UV light before being returned to the body. Unlike standard ozone IV therapy, EBO2 treats a significantly larger volume of blood per session.

Treating a larger blood volume does not establish better clinical outcomes. Evidence for ozone therapy varies by technique and condition and remains limited for many proposed uses. Ozone therapy is not FDA-approved for treating disease and should not replace indicated medical treatment.

Dr. Birch has performed over 2,500 ozone treatments at Purety Clinic — making this one of the highest-volume ozone practices on the Central Coast of California.

    Ozone Therapy Protocols

Different techniques are not interchangeable. Discuss suitability, limitations, and risks before choosing a procedure.

    Our Specialty

    EBO2 / EBOO / Ozone Dialysis

Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation — the most comprehensive ozone therapy. Blood continuously circulates through an extracorporeal circuit, where it is exposed to high-concentration ozone and UV light before being returned. Also called EBOO or ozone dialysis.

    Best for:

    Multipass OHT / 10-Pass

Hyperbaric ozone autohemotherapy — blood is drawn, ozonated under pressure, and returned to the body, repeated 10 times in one session for maximum ozone saturation.

    Best for:

    • Viral infections
    • Immune system support
    • Cancer support
    • Fatigue & brain fog
    • Chronic inflammation

    Prolozone Injections

Local ozone injections into selected joints or soft tissues are sometimes combined with other injectates. Prolozone is distinct from dextrose prolotherapy and PRP. Evidence for clinical benefit is limited and depends on the condition; joint repair or pain relief is not guaranteed.

    Compare dextrose prolotherapy and PRP

    Best for:

    • Joint pain & arthritis
    • Back & neck pain
    • Tendon injuries
    • Sports injuries

    Concerns Patients Ask About

These concerns may prompt a consultation, but listing a condition does not establish that ozone treats it. Your clinician should discuss the evidence, standard care, alternatives, and whether this approach is appropriate at all.

Planning an Ozone Consultation in Santa Barbara

    Start with an individual evaluation

Start with the condition you want evaluated, not a predetermined number of passes or sessions. Dr. Birch reviews prior care, medications, relevant testing, and whether the proposed technique is appropriate. EBO2 / EBOO, Multipass, and local Prolozone injections have different procedures and risks.

    Before your appointment

Ask whether a separate evaluation and any screening tests are required before scheduling treatment. Bring your medication and supplement list and relevant records. Confirm preparation, total visit time, monitoring, and transport advice. Do not stop blood thinners or other prescribed medicines without your prescribing clinician's direction.

Ask for a current, itemized quote

Request a quote for the specific procedure, consultation, required tests, supplies, monitoring, and follow-up. Confirm what is included before agreeing to a series. Ask the office about payment arrangements rather than assuming insurance reimbursement.

An inquiry or discovery call is a first conversation, not a medical consultation or confirmation that treatment is appropriate. Confirm consultation fees and scheduling with the office before booking.
